Bringing On The Best
We must be guided by the power to love and not
overcome by love of power. Then and only then
can we say ' "we are bringing on the best!"
New
Year, new opportunites, new hopes and dreams!
PNASC is turning a new leaf. New administration
and new leadership style, with Brenda Cohen
taking on the helm. As we embrace 2007, our
batteries are recharged with the induction of
the 2007 – 2008 PNASC officers.
Through the years, PNASC has numerous
significant contributions locally, nationally
and internationally, with each administration
building up on stronger and stronger foundation
each time bringing PNASC to a higher level. Each
administration has been relentlessly bringing on
the best by being diligent, dependable and
disciplined to uphold PNASC’s visibility,
vitality and viability.
Through all the years, PNASC prevails because
collectively we opt to turn our energies
positively. When PNASC was in turmoil, we were
all there to assist leadership regain balance!
In the process we gained not only each other’s
respect and friendship, we also became a tower
of strength for each other, and most importantly
we enjoyed higher levels of teamwork and respect
by bringing on our best!
One of my favorite stories on bringing on one’s
best was about Professor Chandrasekhar, PhD. who
was scheduled to teach an advanced astrophysics
seminar in the dead of winter. Most of his
colleagues thought he would cancel the class
because only two students enrolled. To their
surprise he went ahead and taught the class
commuting 100 miles round trip between his home
in Wisconsin and University of Chicago through
back country roads during the harsh winter
months. What a rare and remarkable virtue of
tenacity and commitment! Ten years later, those
two same students, Chen Ning Yang and Tsung-Dao
Lee, both won the 1957 Nobel Prize for physics.
He himself won the same prize in 1983.
As we embrace the New Year with renewed hopes
one fact remains: All of us members share a
common responsibility of upholding the ideals of
PNASC. We must be guided by the power to love
and not overcome by love of power. Then and only
then we can say we are bringing on the best! Our
very best!
